# LinkBuildingServices.org > Independent rankings, reviews and price data for link building services, written for buyers in the United States. 82 providers are scored on a published six-criterion method, every review lists its sources and evidence level, and facts were last re-checked on October 15, 2026. ## About this site ### What we do LinkBuildingServices.org is a research-led directory of link building services. We track 82 providers across 19 ranked lists, maintain a price dataset of 253,527 placements, and update rankings as providers change their prices, terms and methods. Every provider has a full review: what it sells and for how much, its contract terms, its ratings on review platforms, and the sources behind each figure. 78 of them are scored and ranked in the overall list and the [agency directory](https://linkbuildingservices.org/link-building-agencies). The 4 citation services are reviewed but left out of both, because they sell business listings rather than links. ### Why this site exists Search for the best link building service and most of the pages that come back are lists written by one of the companies on them, or roundups with no prices, no method and no date. A ranking like that can't be checked, which makes it hard to trust with a budget of several thousand dollars a month. We publish the parts those lists leave out. The [scoring method](https://linkbuildingservices.org/methodology) and its weights are public. Every price is tied to a named source and the date we checked it. Our [price study](https://linkbuildingservices.org/link-building-costs) is built from 253,527 real listings rather than a vendor's rate card. And the complaints, weak spots and awkward contract terms we find stay on the page, including for providers near the top of a list. ### What we cover Link building is sold by very different kinds of businesses, and a fair comparison has to say which kind each provider is. The directory covers: The 19 ranked lists sort those providers by the job a buyer has in mind: 10 by industry, such as SaaS, ecommerce and casino and iGaming; 5 by tactic, such as guest posting, niche edits and digital PR; and 4 by buyer, such as agencies, enterprise and startups. The [category index](https://linkbuildingservices.org/best) has all of them. - 37 managed link building and SEO agencies, which run outreach and placement for you - 18 link marketplaces, where you pick each site and its price yourself, some with a managed option - 9 productized services, which sell links by tier or package at a fixed price - 14 digital PR firms, which earn coverage and links through stories and data - 4 citation services, which build local business listings ## How we score Every provider is scored from 1 to 10 on 6 criteria. The overall score is the weighted average of the 6, shown to one decimal. The overall ranking follows that score; when two providers tie, the higher link quality score goes first, then alphabetical order. ### Link quality and relevance (30%) Do the placements sit on real sites, in relevant content, where a reader might click? What we look for: - Stated floors for organic traffic, not just DR or DA - Topical relevance at site and page level - Samples or case studies showing live placements - Refusal of link-selling farms, PBNs and sitewide links ### Transparency and reporting (20%) Can you see what you're buying before and after you pay? What we look for: - Public pricing or a published starting price - Site or target approval before outreach or placement - Reports with live URLs, anchors and dates - Clear replacement or refund terms ### Safety and guideline alignment (15%) How exposed does the method leave you to Google's link spam policies? What we look for: - Earned or editorial methods score higher than paid placements - Anchor text discipline and natural pacing - No guaranteed rankings or guaranteed metric jumps ### Pricing and value (15%) Is the price fair for what arrives, at the budget the service is built for? What we look for: - Price per placement against the quality floor - Minimums and contract length - What's included: content, reporting, replacements ### Turnaround and reliability (10%) Do links arrive when promised, and do they stay live? What we look for: - Published turnaround windows - Link monitoring or replacement windows - Contract flexibility ### Support and communication (10%) Is there a human who understands your campaign? What we look for: - Dedicated manager or strategist - Response channels - White-label options for agencies ### Category lists A category list is ordered by fit for that buyer's job first and by score second, so the same provider can sit in different places on different lists. Citation services appear only on the local list and never in the overall ranking or the agency directory. ### Evidence labels Every listing carries a label that tells you how much weight to give it: - Platform data checked: We reviewed live platform data such as catalog size, prices and delivery terms. - Client reviews checked: We reviewed the company's own materials alongside verified client reviews. - Test order placed: We paid for a real placement and recorded what arrived: the domain, its traffic, the turnaround and whether the link stayed live. - Facts checked: We verified pricing, terms, services and company facts against the provider's own pages, independent profiles and our price data. Every claim links to its source. ## Editorial standards ### Sources we rely on, in order When two sources disagree, the one higher on this list decides what the page says, and the other is noted if it matters to a buyer. Sales calls, private decks and promises made by email don't count on their own, because a reader has no way to check them. They tell us where to look; the page cites what we find there. 1. The provider's own pages: pricing, terms, service descriptions, sample reports and case studies, read on the provider's site and dated when we read them. 2. Independent profiles on Clutch, G2, Trustpilot, GoodFirms and similar platforms, for ratings, review counts, project sizes and what clients say went wrong as well as right. We read the reviews, not just the average. 3. Named, dated roundups, cited by publisher and month, for figures a provider doesn't publish itself. A roundup's number is never presented as the provider's own. 4. Our [price study](https://linkbuildingservices.org/link-building-costs) of 253,527 listing prices from 15 link marketplaces, which shows where a marketplace price sits against the rest of the market. ### How we word prices A price on this site always says where it came from, in the same sentence: - "Published" means the price is on the provider's own website, as of the date on the page. - "Reported" means someone else stated it, and the sentence names who, for example a roundup and the month it ran. - "Listed on Clutch" means a minimum project size or hourly rate from the provider's Clutch profile, which the provider fills in itself. - US dollars come first. A price set in pounds or euros is converted, marked "about", and shown with the original amount in parentheses. ### Negative evidence Credible complaints stay on the page even when the provider ranks near the top of a list. That covers patterns in client reviews, disputes a provider has answered in public, and contract terms that work against the buyer. Each one is attributed to where we found it and dated, so you can judge it yourself, and if a provider resolves the problem, the page says that too. In practice a recommendation and a warning often sit on the same page. A provider can be the right pick for one kind of buyer and still have slow replacements or a refund dispute worth knowing about, and we would rather you read both before the first invoice than after it. ### How often we re-check Each provider's prices, minimums, terms, guarantees, ratings and case-study claims are checked again at least once every three months, and straight away when a provider or reader tells us something has changed. The latest full pass across the directory finished on October 15, 2026. Every review shows the date its own facts were last checked, next to the names of the people who checked them. ### Names and dates on every page Every review, list and guide carries two names: the researcher who gathered the facts and the editor who checked them, each linked to a profile with their background and the pages they've worked on. The date beside them is when the page's facts were last checked. A price change or a new guarantee moves that date; a design change doesn't. ### What a correction looks like A useful correction names the page, quotes the sentence that's wrong and links to a source that shows the right fact, such as a current pricing page or updated terms. We check that source ourselves before changing anything. If it holds up, we fix the page, update the date in its byline and change any other page that repeated the old fact. If it can't be verified from a source a buyer could also see, the page keeps the wording we can support. A provider that disagrees with a verdict rather than a fact can send a reply. One that adds something a buyer should know, such as a changed process or the context behind a complaint, can be summarized on the page and credited to the provider. ### AI use AI tools help with research and drafting. A named editor checks every fact against its source before publication. An AI tool is never the source of a fact. Every price, rating and term on a page traces back to one of the sources listed above. ## Price findings Listing prices from 15 link marketplaces, taken on September 17, 2026: 253,527 priced offers (176,453 guest posts and 77,074 link insertions) across 97,930 websites. The overall score is the weighted average of those six numbers, shown to one decimal. The overall ranking is sorted by that score, and when two providers tie, the one with the higher link quality score goes first, then alphabetical order decides. **Can a provider pay to be listed or to rank higher?** No. Being listed costs nothing, and money can't buy a place on any list, a better score or the removal of a critical review. A provider that disagrees with something we've published raises it through the provider page with a source, and we check it exactly as we would a reader's correction. **How often do you re-check prices and terms?** At least once a quarter, and sooner when a provider tells us a price has changed or a reader sends a correction with a source. Our latest full pass, completed on October 15, 2026, re-checked prices, minimums, contract terms and ratings across the directory against each provider's own site. **Why does a provider rank differently on a category list than overall?** The overall list compares everyone on the same six criteria. A category list answers a narrower brief, so how well a provider fits that job comes first and its score second, which is why a specialist can lead a niche list while sitting lower overall. Citation services appear only on the local list. **What do the evidence labels on each listing mean?** They tell you what kind of evidence stands behind a listing. "Facts checked" covers pricing, terms and company details matched to sources, "Client reviews checked" adds verified client feedback, "Platform data checked" means we looked at a marketplace's live catalog and prices, and "Test order placed" means we paid for a placement ourselves and logged the result. **Where does your price data come from?** From our link building cost study: 253,527 priced offers across 97,930 websites and 15 marketplaces, snapshotted in September 2026. Those are listing prices, so negotiated discounts and agency markups don't show up in them. The full breakdown is on the link building costs page. ### Link building costs **How much does link building cost in 2026?** In our study of 253,527 priced placements, the median guest post cost $240 and the median link insertion $262. Managed agency programs usually cost $3,500 to $20,000 a month. **How much does a backlink cost?** A typical guest post or link insertion on a real site costs $100 to $600. Half of the guest post offers we analyzed cost between $104 and $561. **Why do high-DR links cost more?** Authority is scarce and in demand. Median guest post prices rose from $142 on DR 1–9 sites to $637 on DR 70–79 sites in our data. **Are link insertions cheaper than guest posts?** Not always. The overall median insertion ($262) was slightly higher than the median guest post ($240), although insertions were cheaper on DR 50–59 and DR 70–79 sites. **What are link building packages?** Bundles of placements sold at a fixed price, usually tiered by authority or traffic. Make sure you can see the actual domains before you pay. **How can I pay less for the same links?** Compare the same domain across marketplaces. 65,202 domains in our data were listed on two or more marketplaces, and 15.8% of them cost at least twice as much on one as on another. ### Choosing a link building service **How do I choose a link building agency?** Decide how much control you want, set a traffic and relevance floor, ask for live samples and the site list, read the replacement and contract terms, compare the price with the market, and start with a small test. **Should I hire an agency or use a marketplace?** Use a marketplace if you can judge sites yourself and want the lowest price. Hire an agency if you want strategy, content and outreach handled and can afford a monthly program. **What's a fair price for a link?** In our September 2026 study of 253,527 prices, the median guest post cost $240 and the median link insertion $262. Prices rise with authority and traffic. **How many links should I buy for a test?** Five to ten relevant links to three to five target pages is usually enough to see whether a provider's sites move your rankings. **How long should I wait before judging results?** Give it two to three months after the links are indexed. Rankings rarely move the week a link goes live. **Is it safe to buy links?** Google's spam policies treat links bought to manipulate rankings as link schemes. If you buy placements, keep them relevant, on real sites, with natural anchors, and weigh earned methods like digital PR. ## Contact and corrections Email hello@linkbuildingservices.org or use the [contact page](https://linkbuildingservices.org/contact).
